Logistics for SPEAKERS at NLLUG 2010

Dear Speakers,
This info is really important for your session.

Please read it carefully, preferably before you come to the Amsterdam ArenA.


Location / Entrance / Route
At the entrance, when you register
  • Please mention that you are a SPEAKER.
  • A room host/hostess will be appointed to you to assist you, show the rooms and explain further details.
  • For questions: You can identify NLLUG staff by their yellow shirts with NLLUG logo.

Your session
  • Your session(s) is/are listed under the agenda
  • Your room(s) are mentioned on the actual session page(s)
  • All speaker profiles are here

Your presentation Room
  • There is video projector, a sound system, and a microphone available for 1 speaker at the time (general opening / closingn is different).
  • Internet is available for every speaker, both wired and wireless. We advise wired, because once you click in the wire, the wireless internet swichtes off for the normal visitors in that room. Please note: speed is comparable to a 3G connection, not really suitable for broadband video etc. The room host can assist you.

Timing - Before / When you begin
  • There is a break of 15 min before each session. This break is also for you, to unpack your things.
  • You can enter the room max. 15 minutes before your session.
  • Please start exactly ON TIME. There are always attendees that walk in or out during your session,
    but please do not let other people's impoliteness confuse you :-)

Timing - Session duration (and our our "no mercy policy")
  • Every presentation has a duration of 45 minutes (except general opening and 1 so-called '60min session').
    These 45 MIN are also your MAX ;-)
  • Your room host warns you at 15,10,5,...1 minute before end.
  • If you start late, your session becomes shorter.
  • At exactly 45 min.after scheduled start, the room host will ....:
    switch the lights ON, switch the microphone OFF, and open the doors (
    no mercy!)

Timing - Afterwards
  • There is a break of 15 min. between every session, to allow for cleaning and to let people in and out.
  • The room host also assists the subsequent speaker to install laptop etc.

Other
  • Delayed arrival? There are no spare slots. What may remain is your ruined reputation ... :-)
  • You cannot call the NL LUG organisation by phone during the event. If you are not at the ArenA, we will consider your session cancelled.
  • If you need to contact the organisation during the day, please ask your room host. He/she takes care of everything. A crisis manager at the RAI is also available for medical issues and other disasters.
  • Though you cannot call us, you might try sending a TXT (SMS) message to +31 626 024 670. We cannot call back.

Your personal marketing
  • Your sessions as well as your personal profile are online and in print (conference guide)
  • As speaker, you are entitled to bring your own brochures/giveaways/marketing stuff etc. and distribute them during your session.
  • The 'Lotus loves People' campaign takes pictures from everybody at their booth in a special 'Lotus Style'. You'll receive them afterwards. If you want a nice yellow souvenir from Holland, other than green grass, red lights or blue pottery: visit their booth.

Speaker DINNER - Thursday 9 September
  • One of the lessons learned from 2009 is that we should be more kind to all our volunteers. This includes something special for our speakers.
  • As a speaker, you have been invited personally to an exclusive (but relaxed) 'Speakers Only Dinner' high above the green grass of the ArenA. Contact us by email if you haven't.
